The Bible Says...
The Bible says "I hate divorce," says the LORD God of Israel Malachi 2:16
No doubt you have had someone quote this verse to you as you consider divorce. Maybe you even think it means that God hates you too. That would be wrong. The Bible says God sent his Son to die for you because of his deep love for you. He will not stop loving you just because your marriage fell apart.
God hates divorce but he still loves you.
Don’t confuse the current absence of
love
from your spouse with God’s love. God’s love knows no end. He is always faithful and He will never leave you.
Instead, you need to realize that it is because God loves you that He hates divorce. What loving God could possibly want or even enjoy watching you go through so much pain and difficulty?
The Bible tells us that Love is a choice.
You can choose to love others or not to love others even though God has commanded that we must love others as we love ourselves.
As a Christian, you seek to live your life in accordance with God's will. God gave us His Word, the Holy Scriptures, which are God-breathed and infallible as our source of His Will. God's Word, the Bible, can teach you, provide understanding, give you direction and correction, and bring you comfort, hope and encouragement.
The
Causes of Divorce
exist when people fall out of line with God's will. Jesus and Paul both have some interesting things to say about
divorce in the Bible.
Is it possible that the Bible says divorce may be permissable?
God created
marriage.
Right from the very beginning with Adam and Eve, God’s intent was that one man would unite with one woman and that they would become one flesh. (Genesis 2:24). Unfortunetaly, that is not how things seem to have worked out. When sin entered the world, so did
many causes of divorce
that when given the opportunity to take root, can come between a man and a woman and destroy their
marriage.
When difficulties arise in your marriage, there are steps that can be taken in an effort to
save your marriage.
Many marriages, even after a time of
separation
can be
restored,
Even if your marriage cannot be restored, you can still be
reconciled
to your estranged spouse.
In your hurt and maybe even shame, you might think that God can never forgive you for the breakdown of your marriage. You may be feeling like you have failed. God can forgive you. There is nothing you have done that the blood of Christ is not sufficient to cover the penalty for. The question is
can you forgive?
Are you feeling like there is no hope? Like the pain is so deep, it is as though someone has taken the heart out of your chest, thrown it on the ground and stomped on it over and over again?
Divorce healing
is possible. You can
survive
and you will
recover.
God's Word offers
hope after divorce
and
healing
to the broken hearted.
